A phrase from Wangari Maathai's 2004 Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech "encourage them (women and girls) to raise their voices and take more space for leadership" struck me as being very relevant and apt for today. We see more and more women speaking out and leading in efforts for justice, equality, respect. I created this piece to celebrate the growing voices of women and to urge all to listen to these strong voices of truth, empathy and justice.

This mixed media piece in my mosaic-like style measures 18" by 24". Papers are adhered to a "grout" then glazed and varnished to enhance and protect. The painting wraps the edges(7/8") so there is no need for a frame.

  • Shipping prices for paintings are based on cost because it tends to correlate with size. This cost is marked standard shipping when you check out.

If you are only purchasing notecards, use the dropdown menu to select note card orders only to get lower shipping costs, particularly for more than 10 cards. Also consider a separate order for note cards if you are buying both note cards and a painting (or two!) as the overall shipping may also be less.

Select Pick-up from Debbie’s Home Studio or her studio in Sawyer Yards in the Silos #313 if you live in the Houston area and plan to pick up your order to avoid being charged for shipping costs. Follow the instructions provided to arrange for pick-up.
